Rating: G
Genre: Fluff
Word Count: 1, 361 words
Summary: A possible scenario for Jun’s next birthday
Disclaimer: None whatsoever, except for their DVDs and CDs
Author’s notes: Inspired by instances of Jun comments about pain with his use of contacts during filming and concerts, and my *disgruntlement* at a certain other member on Jun’s 26th birthday. Forgive my errors if I have the layout of the inner workings of Kokuritsu wrong since I’ve never been there. Guesswork really.

30th August 2010:
They say that lightning never strikes twice.
Jun begs to differ, even if he can’t claim to be thrilled or depressed right now.
When the concert tour 2010 schedule was announced, as astounded as he was to hear Arashi was FINALLY going on a World Tour, it came as somewhat of a surprise to know that for the third consecutive year, they were going to hold court at Kokuritsu. Of course it made sense that it was to be the flagging-off point in Japan before the group embarked to new foreign destinations like as America, France, Venice and even smaller countries like Singapore and Malaysia.
Grimacing against the cold water that splashed on his face, he wiped a weary hand over his eyes, gently rubbing at the corners to assuage the sting now that the contacts had been finally removed.
He could not believe one of the concert dates fell on his birthday. Again.
He could not believe they ran into another storm on the day. Again.
While Nino had personally handpicked his mirrorball jacket last year, Aiba had taken it upon himself to find a one-of-a-kind vintage hat that was decidedly… full of glitter. Again.
That had to suffer through the downpour. Again.
Torn between a scowl and a half-hearted chortle, he’d say he was probably a jinx on himself and the other four where the weather was concerned.
Figuring that nothing else could be done for the moment, he trudged wearily back towards the green room, thankful that the storm that had been raging for the better part of the concert had finally died down. All that could be heard was the rhythmic drone of the air-conditioner and the almost silent steps of his feet on the carpeted walkway.
Come to think of it, Jun wondered, isn’t it a little too quiet for post-concert clearout?
Opening the door to the green room, Jun almost tripped on his own feet when he stepped into near-darkness. Only a hand on his left upper arm broke his further descent, and Jun twisted his upper body as he automatically stiffened, his natural reaction whenever someone approached from behind him. Unable to make out anything in the murky depths, his breathing accelerated as he felt his other wrist trapped and secured together with his captured left appendage, and a strip of cloth was none too gently wrapped around his eyes. A whisper sounded somewhere behind him, causing him to turn his head back and forth somewhat frantically.
“Calm down, relax…” The silky soft words repeated themselves as Jun tried to figure out the identity of his so-called assailant. The words were barely heard, just enough for Jun to make out the words, but not whose voice it was. “Just… come.”
It really shouldn’t have been any cause for concern really, since the premises had always been cordoned off with special attention to security around the five boys, but the instinct of being trapped by unfamiliarity caused Jun’s hackles to rise. He felt himself pushed along, left with no choice but to follow the insistent pressure of the one behind him. His heart pounding, Jun could feel no menace emanating from the other party. Instead the hands that guided his body forward seemed to be taking care to follow a smooth path, even guiding his feet where there were uneven steps that signaled they were moving to a higher level.
Were they headed out to the open arena? What for?
The other had deemed words unnecessary, seeing that Jun had not made any further attempts to struggle, and was focused on getting them to their destination. While the captive had remained submissive, his mind was awhirl with indecision as to whether he had made the right decision not to fight back. Now that he had gotten over the initial shock, it seemed to him that it was one of the other members. But for the life of him, he had not yet been able to figure out which one, as a slight distance was strictly maintained between the two even while they progressed to wherever their destination was.
His mind was distracted when the clean smell of the post-torrential rains atmosphere registered in his consciousness.
“Look up.” The words were practically breathed in his ear, and Jun followed obediently.
Even as the cloth fell away from his eyes, his ears registered a high-pitched whine emitted somewhere from the far left. What was previously the clear black sky devoid of any stars was now filled with bursts of colours as the first golden sparkles filled the sky. Dancing spots of purple and red filled his vision as pinpoints of light shot upwards into the sky, breaking out into patterns of drooping willows and ever-expanding circles of fading white, blues, greens and yellows.
It was only when the accompanying bursts of sounds faded momentarily that he realized a song was playing in the background, bringing a smile to his face as it dawned on him who the mastermind was.
Sensing even the sound of our dreams as we step out
It feels as if we’d found light in the wind that caresses our cheeks
I’ll send you a flower that bloomed without a name
Together with my feelings that will not fade
Even separated, far from one another, our hearts are connected as one
When the flowers flutter
We’ll begin to walk
Embracing our memories now
With a heart set on journeying
Not for the sake of anyone but ourselves
The shining dream in these eyes right now is
Always and forever1
As warm arms wrapped soothingly around him, Jun’s softly chiding words carried little anger.
“Is this meant to make up for you not being able to personally celebrate my birthday last year?”
“Well, you know. Since I was kind of free this year…”
Jun could hear the laughter behind the words, and gave a tender squeeze to the arms encircling him. Leaning his head back to rest on the other’s sloping shoulder, both quietly watched the continuous kaleidoscopic rainbow of colours, while the melody of the song drew them further into their own memories. The younger man’s heart filled with various emotions, knowing the effort that must have gone into planning the surprise despite a hectic schedule, and keeping this a secret from him, but for the moment, he just could not find the words to say so. Feeling the man behind him rock gently on his heels, Jun gave a short laugh.
“Are you trying to get me to dance with you?”
“Am I succeeding? Otherwise, it’s just that I’m trying to make you forget I have sloping shoulders if you slip off,” Sho’s voice was almost impish even as he turned the younger idol around in his arms and pulled him closer.
“Happy 27th, Ma-chan,” the muffled words whispered into his shoulder could not hide the raw emotions even as the rapper’s arms tightened slightly around him.
“Thank you,” was all Jun could muster, as he felt wetness threaten at the corners of his previously-pained orbs.
A few more moments passed as they swayed to the beat before Jun could not refrain himself.
“Sho?”
“Hmm?” The older man replied, lost to the mood of the moment.
“Where did everyone go?”
“Hmmm… The bar,” Sho drawled almost off-handedly.
“Why?” A slight pinch of his eyebrows as Jun considered the words, but still too comfortable in his warm human cocoon to think too deeply. He could feel Sho’s head lift slightly from his shoulder and a pause before the answer came.
“Well… your eyes were smarting from the lenses right? Soooo… I’d mentioned to the guys and the rest of the staff that you’d headed back home to grab your glasses before meeting us for celebrations at your favourite bar at eleven.”
“Hmmm…“ Jun nestled further into the clean scent of the other man, feeling it seep into his consciousness and lull him into a further calm… until a realization hit him.
He pulled back to stare at the now blushing man, his own jaw falling open, his mind in shock for the second time that night.
It was now a quarter to midnight.
Other notes:
Note 1: Lyrics of “Season” (I forgot who I got the translation from, so please let me know if it’s yours and I’ll credit you for it)
Really late in updating Thunderstorms and Tempest, but definitely still WIP. Real life has been alternating me between sleeping 4 hours daily and working non-stop for the past half week, so couldn't do much writing. Hopefully this one-shot can make up until the next update.
